Resilience: Pleasure and Self-Care in a Precarious World

Nebyula presents the project "Resilience: Pleasure and Self-Care in a Precarious World" in collaboration with Eigen+Art Lab, Berlin. This exhibition brings together a young generation of South African artists who explore and challenge social norms. It promotes a collective narrative that celebrates resilience, self-care, unconditional love and empowerment. The exhibition provides a unique platform for discussion and addresses narratives of trauma, mental health and the political implications of care work. Viewers are invited to explore the aesthetics of resilience, the importance of unconditional love and healing, and the role of art in promoting social change. It aims to initiate discussions on art as activism, psychoanalytic perspectives and global views on women's experiences.
WHY ARE YOU CRYING?

NEBYULA is hosting Jonas Höschl and EIGEN+ART Lab (Berlin) for a parallel presentation in our front gallery and courtyard as part of Various Others. Jonas Höschl will premiere a new video work titled “Why Are You Crying?” within a specially developed mobile presentation space. Höschl's work raises questions about the critical potential of art and whether this potential can be diminished within the art market.
Additionally, at the invitation of EIGEN+ART Lab and Jonas Höschl, South African artists Thandiwe Msebenzi, Sethembile Msezane, and Cazlynne Peffer will show the exhibition “Resilience: Pleasure and Self-Care in a Precarious World”, which challenges societal norms, navigates the complexities of contemporary life, and explores the transformative potential of self-care as a form of resistance.

Nebyula präsentiert das Projekt "Resilience: Pleasure and Self-Care in a Precarious World" in Zusammenarbeit mit Eigen+Art Lab, Berlin. Diese Ausstellung vereint eine junge Generation südafrikanischer Künstler*innen, die gesellschaftliche Normen erforschen und herausfordern. Sie fördert eine kollektive Erzählung, die Resilienz, Selbstfürsorge, bedingungslose Liebe und Ermächtigung feiert. Die Ausstellung bietet eine einzigartige Plattform für Diskussionen und behandelt Narrative von Trauma, psychischer Gesundheit und den politischen Implikationen von Care-Arbeit. Die Zuschauer*innen sind eingeladen, die Ästhetik der Resilienz, die Bedeutung bedingungsloser Liebe und Heilung sowie die Rolle der Kunst bei der Förderung sozialen Wandels zu erkunden. Sie zielt darauf ab, Diskussionen über Kunst als Aktivismus, psychoanalytische Perspektiven und globale Ansichten über die Erfahrungen von Frauen zu initiieren.
