Georg Haberler "Small foot in a big shoe"

Georg Haberler introduces a collection of new mixed-media pieces that craft worlds in a playful, awkward manner through striking compositions, appearing as if they might collapse, yet always retaining their balance. Within Haberler’s distinctive imagery, animals, objects, and architectural elements interact, embroidered with various coloured threads on unprimed canvas. Haberler was born in Graz in 1985 and currently lives and works in Vienna. His work has been showcased in group and solo exhibitions throughout Europe, including Austria, Germany, Italy, France, Belgium, and Denmark. He has received numerous grants, such as the Promotion Prize of the Province of Styria for Contemporary Fine Art in 2021. From April through June 2024, Haberler took part in the residency program at the Foundation for Contemporary Art - Ghana.

Georg Haberler stellt eine Reihe neuer Mixed-Media-Arbeiten vor, die auf spielerische, eigenartige Weise Welten durch markante Kompositionen erschaffen, die zu kollabieren scheinen, aber immer ihr Gleichgewicht bewahren. In Haberlers unverwechselbarer Bildsprache interagieren Tiere, Objekte und architektonische Elemente, die mit verschiedenfarbigen Fäden auf ungrundierter Leinwand gestickt sind. Haberler wurde 1985 in Graz geboren und lebt und arbeitet derzeit in Wien. Seine Arbeiten wurden in Gruppen- und Einzelausstellungen in ganz Europa gezeigt, unter anderem in Österreich, Deutschland, Italien, Frankreich, Belgien und Dänemark. Er hat zahlreiche Stipendien erhalten, darunter den Förderpreis des Landes Steiermark für zeitgenössische bildende Kunst 2021. Von April bis Juni 2024 nahm Haberler am Artist-Residency-Programm der Foundation for Contemporary Art - Ghana teil.
