On the occasion of Various Others 2024 Britta Rettberg presents a collaborative exhibition project by Lennart Lahuis and Paul Valentin in cooperation with Dürst Britt & Mayhew, The Hague.
In archaeology, past civilizations are studied based on their material remains. The carefully recovered artifacts are measured, mapped, and documented. This scientific approach aims to reconstruct a comprehensive picture of past civilizations and to understand how they contributed to the development of today's society. However, challenges arise when excavated items cannot be easily classified and when the found objects seem to be out of place in time. In their first joint exhibition, "Solid Currents," Dutch artist Lennart Lahuis and Munich-based artist Paul Valentin explore questions of temporality and examine the recontextualization of objects.

On the occasion of Various Others 2024 Britta Rettberg presents the solo exhibition "Unlikely Outcomes. A feast for the eyes, regales us with stories" by Nikolas Ventourakis (Athens/London) in collaboration with Callirrhoë, Athens in the project space "park".
"Unlikely Outcomes" is an ongoing series that intricately blends photographs and videos, showcasing Ventourakis' ability to transcend traditional photography. His practice is inherently archival, capturing the fluid transformation of an image from its initial creation to its eventual perception. This process invites viewers to reflect on how the memory of a photograph morphs over time.

Anlässlich von Various Others 2024 präsentiert Britta Rettberg ein Ausstellungsprojekt von Lennart Lahuis und Paul Valentin in Zusammenarbeit mit Dürst Britt & Mayhew, Den Haag.
In der Archäologie werden vergangene Zivilisationen anhand materieller Überreste untersucht. Die sorgsam geborgenen Funde werden vermessen, kartiert und dokumentiert. Das Ziel dieser wissenschaftlichen Betrachtung ist es, ein umfassendes Bild einstiger Kulturen zu rekonstruieren und zu verstehen, wie diese zur Entwicklung der heutigen Gesellschaft beigetragen haben. Doch was passiert, wenn die Funde sich nicht einordnen lassen und aus der Zeit gefallen scheinen? Der niederländische Künstler Lennart Lahuis und der Münchner Künstler Paul Valentin gehen in ihrer ersten gemeinsamen Ausstellung „Solid Currents“ Fragen von Zeitlichkeit nach und untersuchen dabei die Rekontextualisierung von Gegenständen.

"Unlikely Outcomes" ist eine fortlaufende Serie, die Fotografie und Video miteinander verbindet und Ventourakis' Fähigkeit unter Beweis stellt, über die traditionelle Fotografie hinauszugehen. Seine Praxis ist inhärent archivierend und fängt die fließende Transformation eines Bildes von dessen ursprünglichen Entstehung bis zu dessen letztendlichen Wahrnehmung ein. Dieser Prozess lädt die Betrachtenden dazu ein, darüber nachzudenken, wie sich die Erinnerung an ein Foto im Laufe der Zeit verändert.
